A colorful cake for a special birthday boy.
I am clearly learning to communicate better each day, one step at a time, and express verbally my emotions the best way I can. But if there's something that comes natural to me and that is clearly my love language, is creating things with my imagination and my hands that will make someone feel special and loved. Something that doesn't necessarily need words written in it, because it speaks for itself.
The birthday cake moment in a party will never get old. It is the moment where everyone will pay attention to the person celebrating life with friends and family. It is a special one so this is what I came up with.
After the last cake I made (Tarta di Fiori) I clearly needed to add some 'testosterone feel' to this one, since I don't think he would've appreciated flowers in it ^^.
It was a layered cake with strawberries and cream cheese frosting* in between to give it a rich flavor. Then I covered the whole cake with the frosting and surrounded the edges with snack size KitKats and covered the top of the cake with Peanut Butter m&m's and Skittles.
I chose 26 black candles to make it a little more masculine and I decided to put some fun on the top of the cake. I found these molds from Michael's Arts and Crafts in shapes of bow ties and mustaches and chose 5 different colors of candy melts; red, blue, yellow, black and white.
Tip: make the sticks a little shorter if you buy the long ones (like I did), and before sticking them to the cake, leave the cake in the refrigerator for a day so that everything is more solid and the cake has more consistency. This way they won't fall as easy, since the bow ties and mustaches are a little heavy.

*Cream cheese frosting:
-4 ounces of butter, softened.
-4 ounces of cream cheese, softened.
