As I posted here, this summer we went to a wedding in Santa Barbara of one of Ryan's friends.
And the question is, what do we gift them? I know the easy way is to go to their wedding registry and pick something out and make it deliver to their front door, but we decided to make something ourselves, something more personal. There's going to be a day where I won't be able to spend as much time doing handmade/personalized presents for friends and family, but as long as I can I will do it because I love it (and selfishly take so much pleasure doing so).
Our friends David and Jamie moved to a new apartment in downtown bellevue so we decided to make something for their walls, a painting. It took me about a month to complete them. Some days I felt inspired, I took lots of breaks and worked here and there until I felt it was 'done'. It is hard to know when to stop, it is very easy to overdo it.
This painting turned out a little 'Polock' and it was a blast. I don't paint very often, and I don't consider myself a painter, but I think everyone can do it. I also like to decorate my room with my own art and paintings.
The nice thing about this landscape format, is that if you don't have space to place them in landscape format you can put them vertical in a smaller space and it looks as good.
These are the two paintings I gave Ryan for his birthday to put some color in his apartment. They look great in the living room!
