I've taken over the whole cake production on birthdays over here, and I love it, it is the perfect chance to show my love the best way I know, creating. I like to think of the person receiving the cake and make something that they will love. Last month I made a cookie dough cake for Lucas, his special request and the boys said it was their favorit. Yesterday was Susanna's birthday and to keep with the tradition we made another Tarta di Fiori made with strawberry and cream cheese. Lucas helped me decorate it and we agreed that the more flowers the better. We picked everything we could from the garden and placed it around the cake. The inside is filled with cream cheese frosting and slices of strawberries.
This is the quote I shared last year:
"Flowers are Love’s truest language; they betray,
Like the divining rods of Magi old,
Where precious wealth lies buried, not of gold,
But love—strong love, that never can decay!"

I am going to share this delicious cream cheese frosting recipe, because I make it all the time for all the cakes and it is delicious and with the perfect texture. And SO easy!!
Cream Cheese frosting recipe:
- 4 ounces (1 stick) of butter, softened
- 4 ounces of cream cheese (1/2 stick of philadephia), softened
- 2 cups of powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
For this cake we didn't have enough cream cheese to cover all the cake and to fill it in the middle so I doubled the amounts.
May is such a beautiful month to celebrate years, it's the month were we celebrate women and mothers and my favorite flowers happen to be in bloom! :D
