The Ellensburg Rodeo is probably my favorite event of the year. I've been going for four years and I will keep going as long I am still around here. I already talked about this event here (it's in Spanish), the reasons why I like it and how it all started. Take a look if you want to see some more pictures and details, it's one of my favorite posts.
This year I went with Ryan and his friend Spencer, it was their first rodeo and they had a great time. We ate our weight in foot long corn dogs, stuffed baked potatoes, corn on the cob, elephant ears and tacos. Amazing.
This year we bought tickets for the Xtreme Bulls at night too. We usually only go to the rodeo in the morning but this year I wanted to try the finale and it was amazing. In between rodeos we spent time at the fair looking at the pigs andat the Beer Garden Behind the Chutes dancing and listening to wonderful live country music.
I LOVE picking out the outfits for the weekend and that I get to wear my cowboy boots every day. I tend to ''break the rules" and love creating a personal cowgirl look. I usually stay away from jeans and go more for fringe, embroidery patches and colorful jeans. My cowboy boots are pink and I got them in Montana 4 years ago. Over the years I've collected quite a few of country clothing pieces from vintage stores or as presents that people have given me over the years or stuff that I handmade. Like my personalized jeans, that are always a hit and this year I decided to wear my handmade blue poncho, it was perfect for the colder evening and kept me warm and stylish.
The day after the rodeo we drove to Palouse Falls, a beautiful place two hours from Ellensburg. It is worth the long drive. I wanted to stop every mile to enjoy the beauty, take pictures of the wildflowers and take deep breaths.
We spent that night in Leavenworth with our friends Joel and Denae that were spending Labor day Weekend there! I am pretty sure we ate the best pretzel in the world.
I collected all the videos I've taken throughout these five years of rodeo and put them together, it makes me very happy. It is probably my favorite yet!
The next day we had brunch in Ellensburg and then drove to Palouse Falls, WA. The drive was magical, beautiful wildflowers on the side of the road, sunshine, wide open spaces and good music.
Going to the Ellensburg rodeo has become a tradition, and I love how every year I've gone with different groups of friends that have made each year special in its own way. I went back and looked at some of the pictures of each year since 2012 and decided to share them too, because it is truly the highlight of every year and a perfect way to end the summer.
