We decided to do a roatrip to Leavenworth the day after Thanksgiving, the decision turned into one of the most fun days I've had in a long time, I got to spend quality time Ryan and Caiti (Ryan's sister) and explore the mountain town just 2 hours from Seattle. There's just something about Leavenworth that I can't get enough of, from Thanksgiving until Christmas day, this bavarian wonderland is a magical place. Let's be honest, it's just a single street, so not sure if it's the peanut butter cups or the apples dipped in caramel and m&m's from the Chocolate Factory, or the bratwursts from München Haus, the hat shop, the nutcrackers or what, but I keep coming back. It is a cute little place full of goodness, charm and personality perfect for a daytrip. And I know I am not only one. Most will agree with me that there's a special something in this bavarian wood town.
So we get in the car, ready for our adventure and I have to admit that Ryan and I argued a little before picking up Caiti. I had recently discovered the Cinnamon Raised Donuts from Top Pot, and that morning when I woke up it was the first thing that my tired body thought about, and I have to admit that was my motivation to get out of bed (well and the excitement of the roadtrip too). For the ones that don't know me, this means that I NEED to have it. It doesn't work telling me; we'll have it later or maybe next weekend...
Well, I told Ryan about this vision I had right when I woke up, about the fluffy fresh sweet but not too sweet donut and that we needed to stop on our way to get one for breakfast, but now that I thing about it, I don't think I got an answer. I think he just rolled his eyes probably thinking, there she goes, with her morning visions.
Here's how it went, we get in the car, running a little late:
Eli: Can we stop by Top Pot on our way and then go get your sister (big grin on my face)
Ryan: Sorry no, we don't have time.
Eli: Yes, we do!
Ryan: Let's get the donuts another time, maybe next weekend? We'll stop by Chick-fil-A and have breakfast there.
Eli: Wait, what? We do have time for Chick-fil-A but we don't have it for the donuts?
Well you can imagine how it ended... and guess who won! :D (see pictures below) (grin back in my face) (and my belly) (and his belly).
Full bellies and ready for a day full of adventures!
One of my favortie things about going to Leavenworth is the beautiful drive and gorgeous landscapes. And it's probably not a surprise for anyone, but I love roadtrips. I'll say it again, I LOVE ROADTRIPS. I just love spending time in a car with people I love, all the conversations that come with it, the singing and karaoke sessions, John Denver, the sun in my face and stopping along the way to stretch and breath the fresh air. It doesn't really matter where we drive, as long as there's music and laughs, I could go anywhere.
We stopped along the way to stretch our legs and to breath in this beautiful scenery, we opened the amazing panoramic moonroof (yes, this one opened!!!), and enjoyed the fresh air.
We had the amazing privilege to try out the new KIA Sorento for this roadtrip. And now I am spoiled. I mean, if there's a car out there that has everything I need that's the one.
I loved everything about it, it was so comfortable, but if I have to name my top favorites these would be (there are so many):
- Warm steering wheel (keeper)
- Panoramic moonroof with power sun shade (keeper x2)
- 360º camera view (I mean, 360º!!!!!! Thank you Kia)
- Dual-Zone heated seats front and back row (you're welcome kids!)
- All Wheel Drive (No more pushing the car on the snow)
- Push botton start with smart key (this is something the other cars we tried, the Mazda CX5 and Mitsubishi Outlander had, but it doesn't get old. I love not having to dig all the way to the end of my bag to find the key, you just get in, push the botton and voila, we'll look for the key later!)
- Smart cruise control (pretty much it drives on it's own)
- Amazing audio system (oh yea, karaoke sessions!)
- Bluetooth wireless system (Ryan loves that!)
- Power adjustable driver seat (in other words, you can adjust every single part of the seat separate to adjust to your body and height)
- Sunshades on the back windows (oh yea, Caitlin loooved that! Perfect for kids)
And these are only the things that we got to experience in the short period of time we had it, but it was the best, seriously, every new car we get to try I say that is my favorite, but DriveShopUsa just keeps bringing better and better ones. This one was top knotch, everything I would love in a car, the KIA Sorento had it.
Roads were clear and we made it to sunny and snowy Leavenworth. We first went to Icicle Brewing Co. to try their beer, we ate amazing pizza at Idlewild Pizza, tried funny hats, visited the macro Christmas store Kris Kringl, bought some gingerbread goodies at the Gingerbread Factory, had great coffee and, of course, grabbed some candy at the Chocolate Factory (I don't think I've ever left Leavenworth without stopping by here).
This was a trip that I will treasure forever and I think we will try it to make it a tradition. It was a perfect time to get into the christmas spirit, all the lights, eating all the sweets, laughing until our stomach hurt, wipe outs in the snow, kids sleding down the hill and the live music in the streets.
Here is what the other roadtrippers (is that a word?) had to say about their experience traveling with the Sorento:
Ryan says: My experience in the Kia Sorento was luxurious. The quality of the interior second row and passenger seat were superb. It was spacious comfortable and sleek. If I had to travel again cross country, all other travel options would be compared with the initial quality and standard of the Kia Sorento.
Caitlin says: I couldn´t believe the quality of the Kia Sorento. I got to sit in the passenger seat up front, it was so spacious and comfortable. I liked my side warmer and was happy that the temperature was easily controllable. We had the bluetooth stereo on, and were peering out of the windows and up through the glass roof, at the beautiful white mountains. I must say that the Kia Sorento impressed me and would love to have one of my own!
Thank you so much to DriveShopUsa and KIA Motors for allowing us to have this much fun, enjoying quality time together and for creating memories that will last a lifetime.
Thank you.
